In the Name of
Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most merciful.
Constitution of
Anjuman-e-Brotheran
1. The selected name of the association is "ANJMAN-E-BROTHERAN U.K."
2. There will be a central working group consisting of seventeen members.
The President, General Secretary, Joint General Secretary, and Treasurer
will be elected by a vote which will be made annually, or in which the
previously elected members will be approved. Branches in other cities will
hold local elections independently. Besides the elected members of the
working body there will be four members from Birmingham, four from Rochdale,
two from Nottingham, two from Bradford and one from Blackburn. The honorary
position of Nigran-E-Ahla will remain as a senior working member.
3. The account of the Anjman will be held in a building society. Three
nominated signatures will be required in order to cash a cheque. Selection
of members assigned on the approval of previously nominated members will be
in the same annual meeting. If one of the three assigned signatures needs to
be changed, then more than half of the working committee members will have
to contact the building society in order to approve any changes.
4. Anjman membership fee will be £1.00: and the annual fee from a member
settled in the U.K. with his family will be £16.00. But if the member's
family is out of the U.K. or he is unmarried, then he will pay £8.00. If a
member's family is temporarily out of the U.K. and is expected to return
within the same year then he will pay the full annual fee of £16.00. It will
be compulsory for every member to make a payment at the end of May, the time
of the Anjman's annual meeting; or within 28 days after the meeting. The fee
will not be refunded on any condition. Either parent will have to pay £16.00
if they are separated; otherwise the benefit cannot be claimed for their
children.
5. If a member does not pay the annual fee within 28days after 31st of May
his membership will be terminated unless he pays his fee to rejoin. Once the
membership is terminated he will not be eligible to claim benefits. There
will be a charge of £5.00 to renew the membership.
6. In the case of the death of any member or his family member in the U.K.,
the Anjman will pay all expenses without making any difference between young
and old. Either the dead body will be sent to Pakistan for burial, or buried
in the U.K. If the body is to be sent to Pakistan for burial, then the
family will receive extra £50.00 for the journey from the airport to the
final resting place of the deceased.
7. The wife and children of a member are considered as relatives eligible
for any benefit; if the member is the sole breadwinner and the family do not
have any other source of income, any male child over the age of sixteen will
be eligible for benefits providing the fee has been paid to gain membership
for that child. But any unmarried girls will be considered the dependants of
their parents. However, after marriage they will not be considered as
dependants of parents even if their spouses remain in Pakistan; therefore
they will not be eligible for benefit unless they become members through the
payment of fees.
8. If a member is out of Britain and a death occurs in his family while he
is absent, the Anjman will help by making arrangements as it would have if
the member was present.
9. If a member travels out of Britain after paying the fee for the expected
period abroad, or someone else submits the fee on his behalf, then his
membership will be upheld. If a member dies whilst abroad the Anjman will
pay three hundred pounds to his heirs. The family of the member will be
eligible for this benefit only if they are settled in Britain. Any relatives
residing out of Britain are not included as beneficiaries. If the parents or
parents-in-law of any member enter Britain as visitors, they can also gain
membership through paying fees and in turn gain benefits of the membership
while they reside in Britain. However, if they remain in Britain for more
than a year they will be required to pay more fees to renew their membership
But if any member (visitor) leaves Britain, then their eligibility for any
benefit will be terminated.
10. If any member has more than one wife and his death occurs outside
Britain then the payable benefit from the Anjman will be shared equally
between his widows.
11. If any Anjman member leaves Britain for work purposes in any European or
Arabian countries and continues to pay his annual fee annually and his
family are settled in Britain; then the family will gain eligibility for
benefit as they would have if the member was in Britain. In the case of
death occurring in a member's family whilst outside Britain, Clause 9 will
apply.
12. If death occurs soon after gaining membership, then eligibility will be
the same as an established member for benefit. No member is authorised to
get any concession for the sake of any person who is not a Anjman member.
Although a new member's eligibility for benefit will begin straight after
paying the fee, but the same terms do not apply to any member who fails to
pay the fee 28 days after 31st of May.
13. a) Pensioner and disabled persons cannot gain free membership. They will
be considered members only after paying the fee. However, in the case of the
death of a member, his widow under such circumstances will be considered a
free member on the condition that at the time of death she was settled in
Britain. Any children of the widow who are under the age of sixteen will
remain eligible for benefit whilst settled in Britain. As the fee paying
member's family can get benefit, similarly the free members can be eligible
for the benefit under Clause 9.
b) Divorcees will pay the fee to become members. Unlike widows they will not
gain free membership.
14. If death occurs to a member or to his family member. The Secretary of
the concerning ward will be responsible for making the following necessary
arrangements prior to burial:
· a) To inform all working committee staff member
· b) To prepare the necessary documents.
· c) To contact the undertaker.
· d) To make arrangements for the funeral prayer.
15. All the working committee staff will be responsible to help a member on
an occasion when needed in the range of their locality. But if a working
committee staff member is unable to reach the destination where needed due
to some problem, then he must make contact to clarify his position and
confirm his responsibility for any help required.
16. The working committee will be authorised to make a decision in the case
of an emergency, which will be clarified in the oncoming annual meeting.
17. The Head office of the union will be the same address as that year's
appointed General Secretary. It will be essential for every member of the
staff to fulfil his duty at his best without involving any personal
attitudes or influences.
18. If a daughter of any Anjman member marries outside the family and the
parents wish for her to become a member of this Anjman then she will be
accepted. But this membership will be to her life only and after her death
her husband or children cannot hold any position in the Anjman.
19. In the Annual General Meeting any approved or unapproved changes cannot
be included in the agenda again for the next two years.
The above rules include all changes and additions which were approved by the
majority in the annual meeting from when the Anjman came into existence up
until May 2000. Every member of the Anjman-E-Brotheran will be bound by
these rules and changes or additions approved by the majority in the
meetings held annually in the coming Years.
